Caring for Wood Beads

As with all jewelry, make your it the last thing you put on, and the first item you take off. This will help protect your jewelry from sprays, perfumes, lotions, etc.

Here are some additional tips for caring for wood beads.

  • Before storing your wood bead jewelry, rub them lightly with a soft cloth to remove excess oils, sweat, moisture, or dust.
  • Wood swells and contracts with exposure to moisture, so do not expose your wood beads to large amounts of water. Over time, this can cause the wood to split or crack.
  • Wood may darken with age as exposed to the natural oils from the skin. This is a natural process.
  • To clean or polish your wood beads, use a soft cotton cloth to slowly rub the beads. This will renew the wax finish and brighten them up in no time!
  • If your beads are very dull from exposure to water, sweat, or chemicals, you can try to polish them using a light wood wax. We usually recommend Johnson Paste Wax. Apply a thin coat of wax. Allow to dry for a minute, and then buff off the wax with a clean soft cloth. An old white cotton t-shirt works well for this!
